Weddings at The Inner Temple
Most rooms within the venue are licensed for civil ceremonies, including the Garden and Pavilion during the summer season. Couples can select the space that best reflects the tone of their day, from the intimacy of the Parliament Chamber to the grandeur of the Hall or an outdoor ceremony within the Garden.
The Inner Temple appeals to couples drawn to its history and architectural character. It has long been chosen by members of the Inn, those connected to the legal profession and couples travelling from overseas who value a traditional British setting. The portrait lined walls, chandeliers and Georgian style interiors create a sense of occasion that resonates across a wide range of celebrations.
Weddings at The Inner Temple
At weekends, the first floor rooms are available for exclusive hire, allowing your wedding to unfold privately across multiple interconnected spaces. This gives you the freedom to shape distinct areas for dining, dancing and quieter moments throughout the celebration.
Full day weddings are best suited to up to 120 guests, allowing ample space for ceremony, wedding breakfast and dancing within the Hall and its connecting rooms, with a proper dancefloor that allows the celebration to build naturally as the evening unfolds.
For larger guest lists, the first floor rooms can accommodate up to 600 guests for a standing reception across multiple spaces. The Inner Temple Hall can also seat up to 276 guests for formal dining, offering impressive scale for larger occasions.
Dry hire is available for couples who wish to appoint their own caterers, and both bespoke and standard packages can be tailored to reflect individual requirements.
Two luxury double bedrooms, The Boswell and The Chaucer, are available on site, allowing you to remain within the estate at the end of your celebrations.
How your wedding typically unfolds at The Inner Temple
Preparations often begin in the Drawing Room, providing space for hair, makeup and quiet moments before the ceremony.
Most civil ceremonies take place within the licensed rooms of the venue, such as the Parliament Chamber, before guests move through to the Hall and Luncheon Room for reception drinks and dining.
Members of the Inn may also choose to marry at Temple Church, with arrangements made directly with the Church. The Inner Temple then provides a seamless setting for the reception and evening celebration. Likewise, couples marrying at a nearby church or registry office can host their reception at the venue, allowing guests to gather in one setting for the remainder of the day.
How your wedding typically unfolds at The Inner Temple
The Inner Temple Hall hosts the wedding breakfast and transitions naturally into evening dancing, with connecting rooms used as bar, lounge or quieter spaces as the celebration develops. As the evening unfolds, the Hall shifts in atmosphere, moving from formal dining to celebration beneath the glow of its chandeliers.
Ceremonies and receptions may also take place within the Garden or Pavilion. The Pavilion offers a high end covered setting within the award-winning Garden, suitable for dining, entertainment and larger celebrations, while the surrounding lawns provide space for drinks and photography.
Weekend weddings allow full use of the principal first floor spaces, while midweek celebrations are often more intimate in scale.

Planning considerations
Full day weddings that include ceremony, dining and evening dancing are best suited to a guest experience that allows comfortable use of the Hall and its connecting rooms. Our team will guide you on layout options to ensure the celebration feels balanced from start to finish.
Where the Hall is used for both ceremony and dining, additional time is required to allow the room to transition between formats. This is factored into the event schedule to ensure the day flows smoothly.
All principal rooms for weddings are available from 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, making midweek celebrations particularly suited to more intimate evening formats. On weekends, the first floor rooms are available from 11.00 am, with celebrations continuing until 1.00 am on Saturdays and 11.00 pm on Sundays. Earlier access can be discussed during the planning stages where required.
During the summer season, the Garden and Pavilion are available for licensed ceremonies and receptions, subject to seasonal installation dates.
Early discussion is recommended, particularly for peak summer weekends and popular ceremony dates.
